What is involved in a stump removal? 

Our stump removal process involves using a stump grinder to chip away your stump up to 16 inches below the grade. 

How much does it cost to remove a stump in Winona? 

Removal of a stump can cost anywhere from $150 - $1,000+ depending on the size of the stump and how difficult it is for us to access the stump with our equipment. Does stump grinding happen at the same time as tree removal? 

Our tree removal and stumping services are distinct tasks, involving different pieces of equipment and different tree care professionals. Often times, stump removal requires an often times lengthy underground utility locate process. This is a safety pre-caution that is our legal responsibility. Lots of smaller tree care companies forego this process. 

While we do our best to grind your stump after removing your tree - there are often times delays and it can be a few weeks before we remove your stump. Beswick's FAQ gives you a good sense of what it is like working with us and what you can expect throughout the process. 

How far down does your stump grinder go?

Our stump grinder will grind up all of the above-ground stump and then down about 6-12" below grade to grind up the root ball. 

Can you leave the wood chips?

It is up to you whether or not we leave the wood chips. Often, customers ask us to leave the wood chips behind to be used as garden mulch. Be sure to ask your ISA-certified arborist if you'd like us to leave the wood chips and we'd be happy to accomodate! In fact, we prefer leaving the wood chips on site after stumping as it is less of a clean up for us, and mulch is the unsung hero of the tree care world!  

Will your stumper fit through my gate? Can it go up stairs?

Stairs are definitely a problem for stump grinders. With the help of ramps, we will do our best. However, sometimes the access point is just too difficult and we will decline to quote certain stump grinding jobs. We hope you understand. Our small stumper is 34" wide and our big stump grinder is 6ft. and 8" wide. So, gates up to ~7 feet" should be considered safe for us to access with either sized stumpers.
